Keep Schools Closed…For Now

Children adapt well to change and adversity. Most often they have no choice. Right now, parents, teachers, and doctors have a choice to make on their behalf. Local leaders have a responsibility to our communities and choosing to support the health and safety of all citizens is paramount.

It is critically important that we the parents, teachers, faculty, and families hold our local representatives accountable for what they’re asking of our kids and loved ones. Most importantly, we need them to understand the example they’re setting for our leaders of tomorrow about how to respond to personal and community crises to come.

For starters, let’s wait until our local leaders feel comfortable conducting their business in person before we ask our kids and teachers to do so.

We just don’t know enough about the effects this current pandemic will have on our kids’ long-term health to risk sending them into breeding grounds for bacteria and viruses. Local leaders should not use incomplete data…
